The Toyotas move up one place each after Jenson Button gets away slowly. Mika is 8th and Allan is 9th. David Coulthard leads the race in his McLaren-Mercedes.

Allan catches the inside kerb on the way into Sainte-Devote and the impact sends him into the barrier on the exit of the corner and out of the race.
