Canadian GP Key Moments
Lap 1 | Juan Pablo Montoya leads away from pole position and the Toyotas both pick up places. Mika is 14th at the end of lap 1 Allan 18th. Allan and Pedro de la Rosa make contact after the Spaniard appears on the Scot's blind side going into the last corner. |
Lap 2 | Rubens Barrichello passes team mate Schumacher into Turn 1 on lap 1 takes the lead from Juan Pablo Montoya. Mika is up to 13th ahead of Takuma Sato. |
Lap 3 | Mika passes Olivier Panis for 13th place. |
Lap 6 | Mika passes Jacques Villeneuve for 12th place. |
Lap 14 | Safety Car is deployed to remove Jacques Villeneuve's car which suffered technical problems on lap 9. |
Lap 21 | Allan sets his fastest lap of the race so far 1m19.966s and is up to 15th place just behind Eddie Irvine's Jaguar. |
Lap 25 | Mika pits for new rear tyres is stationary for 9.9s. He has radioed that he has a rear puncture. |
Lap 27 | It becomes clear that it was one of the front tyres that punctured. Mika pits again for new front tyres and loses 15s. |
Lap 30 | Mika is given a Drive Through penalty for speeding in the pit lane. |
Lap 32 | Mika pits to serve his penalty and rejoins in last place. |
Lap 41 | Allan McNish pits has problems getting the car into gear - it selects fifth instead of first – and has a long stop. Mika retires to the box after the car suffers brake problems maybe as a result of his earlier puncture. |
Lap 45 | Allan's gear selection problem causes him to spin out at Turn 4 and joins Mika in the list of retirements. |
Lap 70 | Michael Schumacher scores his sixth win in eight races ahead of Coulthard Barrichello Raikkonen Fisichella and Trulli. |
