Monza Test 03-06 September 2002 - Day 2

More wet weather in Italy today affected on-track activities for Stéphane Sarrazin and Allan McNish on day two of this week's four-day test at the Autodromo di Monza. Persistent rain showers throughout the day limited running somewhat but both drivers used the opportunity to carry out useful wet weather work.

Weather conditions: On-and-off rain showers during the day some heavy
Temperatures:

Allan McNish

Chassis: TF102/04
Laps completed: 37
Best time: 1m.27.25s

"It has been a frustrating day due to the wet weather which has limited the number of laps we could achieve. Having said that it was good to have the chance to test in the wet conditions as we may have a similar situation during the grand prix weekend. Michelin have brought a new wet weather tyre with them and from what I have seen today it seems a big improvement."

Stphane Sarrazin

Chassis: TF102/05
Laps completed: 62
Best time: 1m.27.40s

"With the intermittent showers during the session today I did a lot of comparison work on the wet and intermediate tyres. In the afternoon I tested some solutions for mechanical grip but had to end the session early when the heavy rain started again. Overall though it has been an interesting test and a positive two days' work."

Mika Salo will take to the track with Allan McNish tomorrow for the penultimate day of testing at the Autodromo di Monza.
