Key moments from the Japanese Grand Prix

Lap 1

Mika makes up a place at the start and is pushing the Jordan-Honda of Giancarlo Fisichella hard for 11th.Michael Schumacher converts his pole position and leads the race from his team mate Rubens Barrichello. David Coulthard is third from Ralf Schumacher Kimi Raikkonen and Juan Pablo Montoya.

Lap 7

Mika is up to 11th as David Coulthard retires.

Lap 18

Mika makes his first pit stop a very good effort from the team and good enough to put him ahead of Fisichella who stops two laps later. Once they are both back up to racing speed Mika has a 3.2s advantage thanks to his fastest lap 1m37.761s which is the sixth best of the race. He is now into the top 10.

Lap 32

Jarno Trulli’s Mild Seven Renault retires promoting Mika to ninth.

Lap 35

Mika makes his second pit stop but has been experiencing a sensor problem which the team fixes using bi-directional telemetry.

Lap 48

Ralf Schumacher suffers a mechanical failure and Mika is now into eighth.

Lap 53

Schumacher scores his 11th win of the year with Barrichello second - the ninth Ferrari 1-2 of the year. Kimi Raikkonen joins them on the podium ahead of Montoya Sato Button Nick Heidfeld and Mika.
