Rd.1 Australian Grand Prix
The white–hot 2009 season begins with the Australian GP!
Once again, the 2009 F1 World Championship begins in the Southern Hemisphere at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia. This year, we will see many significant changes in aerodynamic regulations, including the size of the front and rear wings. Two other major rule changes are the return to slicks rather than grooved tires, and the use of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). The 2009 season will actually begin two weeks later than usual, and we are eagerly looking forward to the battle on the Albert Park street course. The race will begin at 5:00 pm local time, which is one hour and a half later than last year. The later start time could make a big difference in how the race develops. Be sure to look for strong performances from Timo Glock in his second year behind the Panasonic Toyota Racing wheel, and of course, our veteran driver, Jarno Trulli.

2008 Grand Prix
The Australian GP was the first race of 2008, held on March 16. Jarno and Timo started from P6 and P18, respectively, and both drivers continued to drive a steady race as the laps built up. Unfortunately, Jarno’s battery overheated during lap 19, which forced him to retire early from the race. Meanwhile, Timo drove an energetic race in his debut with Panasonic Toyota Racing, moving steadily up in position until an incident on lap 44 forced him out of the race as well. Despite leaving the weekend with no championship points, the team’s performance led to high expectations for the year, especially as Jarno turned in a solid performance, racing as high as P5 for a time.
