Rd.14 Singapore Grand Prix
High expectations for Panasonic Toyota Racing on a night street course!
From this race onwards, the F1 circus leaves Europe for four “fly-away” races in a row. This stage of the season will test the teams' abilities both technically and organizationally (moving team staff, managing spare parts and equipment, etc.). As the Singapore GP is held at night, teams and drivers will intentionally remain on European time, leaving them no need to get over jet lag. The teams will also be adopting special measures to ensure that sign boards are easily readable under the glare of the lights. As with all street courses, the run-off areas here are extremely tight, which means that chances are high for a safety car appearance—a situation that actually affected the outcome of last year's race. If it should rain, there is no doubt that the situation will become all the more complicated. Last year, Timo finished in the points at P4, and the team has high expectations for even better results from both of our drivers this year.

2008 Grand Prix
The inaugural Singapore GP was the 15th race of the 2008 season, held on September 28. This race also marked the first-ever night competition for the F1 World Championship, getting under way at 9:00pm Japanese time. Timo immediately advanced to P6 from his P7 starting position, while Jarno moved up to P9 from P11. During the second stint, one of the Renault cars crashed into a barrier, which resulted in an appearance by the safety car. Fortunately, both of our cars were able to continue racing in contention for points. During the last stint, however, Jarno's car developed hydraulic system trouble, forcing him into a disappointing early retirement from the race. Timo continued to drive a splendid race, finishing in the points at P4.
