Suzuka Circuit Overview |
This is the first overtaking point. Drivers will attempt to build speed on the Main Straight, and then use their momentum to pass. But if the drivers aren't preparing for 2nd Curve and the S Curve section ahead, they will lose their rhythm coming out of 1st Curve. Once they are off rhythm, the effects will throw off their timing all the way through Degner Curve. |

Here, you will be able to see the different lines taken by the drivers. This section significantly affects overall lap times. Fans can easily see where the best battles are happening, and this is one of the best vantage points to view the race. DTC Noritoshi Arai recommends this spot for watching the race. |

This curve ("gyaku" means "opposite" in Japanese) gets its name from the impression on the driver that the banking of the curve lays opposite the orientation of the corner. It is much easier to see the behavior during touring car races here than when observing F1 machines. This might be the best vantage point to watch support races. |

Mistakes in 1st Curve can affect the driver's performance all the way through Hairpin. However, if the drivers can maintain a good rhythm, they will be able to save a lot of time. The Hairpin following Degner Curve is one of the few low-speed sections of the Suzuka Circuit. Merely relying on engine power coming out of the Hairpin won't guarantee the driver will be able to navigate efficiently through Spoon Curve waiting ahead. |

This is another section where rhythm is important. It's no exaggeration to say that the speed through 130R is determined right here. |
Car setup is important if a driver is to build momentum here, using it to pass in the following chicane. If a driver doesn't have a comfortable setup, it will definitely affect their overall time. |
This is the next overtaking zone after 1st Curve. Drivers brake hard from nearly full throttle to navigate the chicane, and then open up to top speed on the Main Straight. Any mistake in this series of moves means that if the drivers aren't passed in the chicane, there is a good chance they will be passed in 1st Corner. |
