The site of the sixth race of the year is the Catalunya Circuit located in the suburbs of Barcelona, Spain. Since 1992 (the year of the Barcelona Olympics), this circuit has hosted an F1 World Championship Race annually, and every team has a wealth of accumulated data. Even so, the task is never easy to formulate strategy for the combination of low-speed and high-speed corners around this circuit. The track surface has many bumps, placing quite a lot of stress on both driver and car.

2005 grand prix

The Spanish Grand Prix was held on 8 May, 2005. Both Ralf and Jarno were in strong starting positions, qualifying P4 and P5, respectively. Immediately after the start, Ralf moved up to 3rd, with Jarno right behind. Jarno had a slightly heavier fuel load on board, allowing for a strategy to pit later in race, building position while the other teams refueled. The plan came off splendidly, with Jarno improving to 3rd during the race. Ultimately Jarno and Ralf raced to a 3rd and 4th finish, respectively, securing points for both cars. This was the third podium finish for Jarno of the season.
