Preview Practice Qualifying Race Review
Canada is the first of two consecutive North American round races!

The Gilles Villeneuve Circuit is the setting for the Canadian Grand Prix, located on Ile Notre Dame in the center of the St. Lawrence River, near the busy streets of Montreal. The course was built on the site of the 1967 World's Fair, consisting mainly of public roads existing at the time. The layout is considered to be one that is tough on brakes, featuring long straights capped on each end by a hairpin turn. Narrow run-off areas means that major damage is all but guaranteed for any car that wanders off the course.

2006 grand prix
The Canadian GP was the ninth race of 2006, held on June 25. The race developed into quite a turbulent competition, with the safety car twice called onto the track. Jarno started the race from a solid P4 on the grid, fighting engine misfires throughout the middle stage of the race. He was able to hang on for a P6 finish and his first points of the season. Ralf started P14, but suffered from a lack of tire grip, running off the course twice in the hairpin, and ultimately had to retire from the race early.
