Preview Practice Qualifying Race Review
Who will survive this scorching low-speed battle?

The Grand Prix of Hungary is the only grand prix race held in Eastern Europe. The Hungaroring serves as the stage for this race, set on a hill overlooking the suburbs about 20km outside Budapest. Known as a low-speed course, the Hungaroring is notoriously difficult for overtaking, which means qualifying figures heavily in the race final. This is the second slowest course on the F1 World Championship series, next to the Grand Prix of Monaco. As always, the race promises to be a long, tough battle, with every team taking measures to combat the mid-summer heat.

2006 grand prix
The 13th race of the 2006 season was the Hungarian GP, held on August 6. It was the first rainy weather race of the season, and turned out to be quite a rough affair. Ralf and Jarno started P6 and P8 on the grid, respectively. During the initial stage of the race, the cars on Michelin tires took the advantage, and it was tough going for the others, but the course began to dry out during the last stage of the race, and both Ralf and Jarno began overtaking their competitors. With only four laps left, Jarno's car developed engine trouble, forcing him to retire (classified as a 13th-place). Meanwhile, Ralf advanced as more cars dropped by the wayside, ultimately finishing in the points at sixth.
