Preview Practice Qualifying Race Review
Engine power and aerodynamics are the keys to this legendary high-speed battle

With the elimination of the San Marino GP at Imola, this will be the only GP held on Italian soil this year. The Grand Prix of Italy is set at the Monza Circuit, located in the outskirts of Milan. This course, also called the ”Holy Land of F1, ”is laid out with long straights, connected by chicanes and corners, boasting the highest average speeds of all of the F1 circuits. Naturally, the circuit calls for a high percentage of time on full throttle, as well as severe braking in the corners. The key to quicker lap times here is the skillful use of curbs in the corners.

2006 grand prix
The Italian GP, held on September 10, was the 15th race of the 2006 season. Panasonic Toyota Racing cars were slightly behind the pace as Jarno qualified P11 and Ralf qualified P13. Given the starting positions, the team decided to go heavier on fuel load, selecting a one-stop strategy. In the first chicane after the start of the race, Ralf tangled with another car, and had to drop out. On lap 29, Jarno pressed ahead with his only pit stop, climbing into a position to win points. Ultimately, Jarno finished seventh, winning two points for Panasonic Toyota Racing. Ralf was officially awarded a 15th place finish, one lap down from the top finishers.
