Preview Practice Qualifying Race Review
A podium finish at our home country GP?

This year's Japanese GP will be held at the Fuji Speedway. The race will mark the first time since 1977 that F1 cars have raced on the course. Major reconstruction was completed during early 2005, and while the newly reopened Fuji Speedway has kept its famous long home straight, the circuit has been reborn as a modern facility with the latest equipment and amenities. The second half of the course features a long series of low-speed sections, so car setup will present a challenge for the teams. And as always, the teams will have to deal with the potential for rain at this time of year.

2006 grand prix
Last year's Japanese GP was held at the Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture. The Japanese GP was the 17th race of the season, held on October 8. Both Panasonic Toyota Racing cars had their best outing of the year, with Ralph securing P3 and Jarno just behind at P4 on the starting grid. Immediately after the start, Jarno fell to fifth and Ralph also dropped his position. After the pit stop, Jarno ran fourth and Ralph ran fifth. Both drivers smoothly completed laps during the race, but were overtaken during the second pit stop, falling back to sixth and seventh positions, respectively, and finishing the race in those same spots.
