Istanbul: A Grueling Counterclockwise Course
The fifth race of the year this year will be the Turkish GP. Last year, the race was held in August, but this year, the schedule has been moved up to May. While the temperatures should be somewhat less sweltering than at mid-summer, everyone is interested to find out how the different conditions will affect the race. The circuit features several highly technical turns, including Corner 8 with its multi–apex configuration, as well as tough elevation changes. This is also one of the few counterclockwise circuits on the F1 schedule, and we expect a physically grueling weekend for Jarno, Timo, and all of the other drivers.
2007 grand prix The Turkish GP was the twelfth race of the season, held on August 26, 2007. It was a sweltering day, with the ambient temperature reaching 36°C, a 52°C track surface temperature, and 27% humidity. From P9 on the grid, Jarno collided with another car in the first turn of the race, falling back to the rear. Never giving up, Jarno drove a very determined race to finish in P16. Ralf, starting from P16 on the grid, used a one–stop strategy to move up in position, finishing the race at P12.
