HAPPY DAYS

Panasonic Toyota Racing's Monza test programme continued on day two in Italy with Jarno Trulli remaining in the cockpit to carry on developing the team's low downforce Italian Grand Prix aerodynamic package. With the threat of rain, the team faced losing some of its scheduled time but, in fact, the showers timed their arrival for the lunch break and the team ran more or less uninterrupted before stopping to make some gearbox checks. Jarno completed a successful day and made good progress with set-up. The test continues tomorrow with Ralf Schumacher taking over driving duties.

Jarno Trulli - Chassis TF107/06
Best lap time: 1min 23.759s
Position: 4th
Total laps: 61
Total distance:353.373kms

“We had a good day and improved many aspects of the car. I was much happier with the braking stability and we also made strong progress with the aerodynamic set-up. We improved our lap time, which is positive, and I am now confident of a strong race here at Monza in next week's Italian Grand Prix. The home fans are always passionate and enthusiastic and I have seen that again these past two days. I hope that I can give them something to cheer!"

Gerd Pfeiffer - Test Team Manager

“Monza is a one-off in terms of car set-up and we made significant progress today, with both the aerodynamics and the brakes, which was satisfying. Jarno felt much more comfortable in the car and that is an important consideration at what is the fastest track on the Formula 1 calendar. Tomorrow we will start afresh with Ralf in the cockpit and, weather permitting, will complete our schedule of work."
