GR Heritage Parts: Supporting Enthusiasts Who Want to Drive Their Beloved Cars for a Lifetime

The second-generation Supra (A80), loved across generations

“When I heard there were plenty of genuine GR Heritage Parts available, I knew I’d be able to keep driving this Supra for a long time. I absolutely love its refined design, which is unique to classic cars,” says Natsumi Furuya. She purchased her white Supra after being inspired by an American movie featuring the second-generation model, and she continues to treasure it to this day. The second-generation Supra debuted in 1993 and was produced until 2002, serving as Toyota’s flagship sports model at the time. It features a muscular body housing a three-liter inline six-cylinder turbo engine, the 2JZ-GTE (or 2JZ-GE for naturally aspirated models). It was a high-performance car that embodied the 1990s, a decade crowded with Japanese cars producing 280 PS. Even today, many owners, including Ms. Furuya, continue to pour their love into maintaining these vehicles.

Restoring the beautiful original style with long-awaited GR Heritage Parts

After learning about GR Heritage Parts, Ms. Furuya drove her beloved Supra to GR Garage Matsumoto, located near her home. She had three main concerns: a transmission oil leak, yellowing headlights, and cracks in the bumper paint. The center of the aftermarket bumper had holes for the license plate, which she had covered with stickers. “The previous owner had installed various aftermarket parts, so I want to use genuine parts to make it look as pristine as when it was new. I really love the styling of cars from this era,” says Ms. Furuya. A GR Consultant at GR Garage Matsumoto made various proposals to fulfill Ms. Furuya’s vision, and after repeated discussions, they finalized the maintenance plan. They installed a front bumper cover, reproduced as part of the GR Heritage Parts Project, and painted it with a custom-mixed paint to match the current body color. Additionally, they replaced the left and right headlights, available through extended supply, to restore the front fascia to like-new condition.

“It turned out incredibly well. I’m so happy the holes in the bumper are gone,” says Ms. Furuya, beaming with a huge smile at the solution provided by GR Heritage Parts. “I used to be a bit intimidated by GR Garage, so I never really thought to go there, but this has made me want to visit.”

Modernizing genuine parts to add value and ensure a stable supply

The GR Heritage Parts Project was launched in 2020 for owners around the world who truly love their vehicles, aiming to help customers keep their beloved older, memory-filled Toyota classics on the road. Beginning with parts for the A70 Supra and A80 Supra, the lineup now includes GR Heritage Parts for the Toyota 2000GT, A70 Supra, A80 Supra, AE86 Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno, and Land Cruiser 40/60/70/80 as of March 1, 2026. The oldest model is the Land Cruiser 40 (debuted in 1960), a model dating back a remarkable 66 years. Compatibility information for other models is also available on the GAZOO Racing website (GR Heritage Parts Compatibility Information (Japanese) (PDF)), embodying Toyota’s commitment to providing complete support for car enthusiasts.

In addition, out of respect for the third-party manufacturers who have supported this culture by manufacturing and supplying parts since before the GR Heritage Parts Project was launched, we are focusing on reproducing parts that only Toyota can tackle, using the latest technology, materials, and production facilities to modernize genuine parts based on their original designs. In doing so, we are able to add new value and continue producing these parts in substantial batches, which is the aspect that enthusiasts value most. By teaming up with suppliers to address the needs of each individual, Toyota has established a new business model for low-volume parts.

GR Heritage Parts: Standing together with enthusiasts who want to drive their beloved cars for a lifetime

It has been six years since the GR Heritage Parts Project began. The news that Toyota had started reproducing genuine parts generated a huge response and has been positively received by car enthusiasts.

“I’m going to maintain this car myself until it’s fully restored and ready to pass on to the next generation. It’s so important that Heritage Parts are available. Without them, the next generation won’t be able to drive these cars, and neither will we. I’m truly grateful” (Ms. Keiko Mori, BJ42V Land Cruiser owner).

“It’s starting to fall apart, so I want to get it back in pristine condition. I plan to keep it for a long time, and if my child ever wants to drive it, I might pass it on to them then” (Mr. Hideo Nunomura, AE86 owner).

“The 70 Supra was built for performance, so once you drive it, you’ll want one. I bought it 30 years ago, back when it was five years old. It’s a shame it wasn’t new! For me, GR Heritage Parts has been a savior, creating things that were once out of reach” (Mr. Isao Taniguchi, A70 Supra owner).

Loving your beloved car for a lifetime: it's easy to say, but far from easy to achieve. GAZOO Racing will continue the GR Heritage Parts Project to bring a smile to the faces of car enthusiasts. We look forward to supporting you while listening closely to your needs and requests.
