Preview Practice Qualifying Race Review
This year's European round starts in Spain!

The site of the fourth race of the year is the Catalunya Circuit located in the suburbs of Barcelona, Spain. Since 1992 (the year of the Barcelona Olympics), this circuit has hosted an F1 World Championship Race annually and also a number of tests during the winter and between the races, so every team has a wealth of accumulated data. This year, as the Spanish GP circuit will feature a newly constructed chicane located just prior to the final corner, the overall length of the course has been increased. The track surface has many bumps, placing quite a lot of stress on both driver and car.

2006 grand prix
As the sixth race of the 2006 season, the Spanish GP was held on May 14, 2006. Ralf (qualifying P6) and Jarno (qualifying P7) were both overtaken by several cars off the starting grid, losing position during the initial stage of the race. In Corner 1 on lap 16, Ralf and Jarno bumped into each other, forcing Ralf into the pits for repairs. In the end, Ralf was forced to retire from the race on lap 31 due to electrical system problems. Jarno finished 10th, fighting car balance issues throughout the race.
