A top finish at the ”Home Grand Prix?”
The European Grand Prix will be the only F1 race held in Germany this year. However, the race itself will be held at Nurburgring rather than Hockenheim. We consider this a "Home GP," since the race is held just 90km southeast of the Panasonic Toyota Racing headquarters in Cologne. The course has very few overtaking areas, which means qualifying position is very important.

2006 grand prix
Nurburgring served as the stage for the European Grand Prix (fifth race of the season) held on May 7. Jarno started P7 and Ralf started P10 on the grid. Ralf, slightly heavier on fuel, strategized to stay out on the first stint until lap 27, allowing him to move up to seventh position. However, after the second pit stop, Ralf's car experienced engine trouble, and he had no choice but to drop out of the race. Meanwhile, Jarno raced in sixth position during the initial stage of the race, but suffered from poor tire grip during the last half, winding up in ninth place.
