The "RC F GT3" is based on the RC F Lexus sports coupé and modified to meet the GT3 regulation requirements as set by the FIA (International Automobile Federation). Its origins date back to 2015, when a prototype model first began competing in the SUPER GT's GT300 class. From there the new RC F GT3 went on to make its full-fledged debut in 2017.
Two new RC F GT3s each went on to compete in Asia's SUPER GT, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships in the United States and the International GT Open held in Europe, for a total of six machines. In each instance, the machines, alongside their customer teams, made strong showings in their respective series.
The achievements of the new RC F GT3 in its debut year are recapped below, according to series.
