TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) will begin interaction between Japan Rally Championship (JRC) and Australian Rally Championship (ARC) aimed at advancing talent development and supporting our "Making Ever Better Cars" originated in motorsports philosophy. This initiative also seeks to cultivate cross-border friendships and promote the global motorsports culture.
TGR JRC rally team (TGR-WRJ) will partner their efforts with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia (TGRA) and Neal Bates Motorsports (NBM), who are known for their strong presence in the ARC. TGRA drivers Harry Bates, the two-time and current ARC Champion, along with brother Lewis Bates (2022 ARC Champion), who secured second place in the 2023 ARC, are pivotal to this collaboration. Harry Bates currently leads the 2024 ARC standings, driving the latest TOYOTA GR Yaris Rally2, which went on sale in 2024.
As part of this partnership, TGR-WRJ will compete in the Gippsland Rally in Victoria, Australia, from August 9th (Fri) to 11th (Sun) with young development driver Nao Otake. In return, TGRA driver Harry Bates and Co-Driver Coral Taylor will compete in Rally Hokkaido in Hokkaido, Japan, from September 5th (Thur) to 8th (Sun).
With this interaction, TGR will learn from diverse rallying environments that will contribute to the ongoing evolution of the JRC.
