Trouble in the Dunes

The 7th is the last day of the four stages through the desert of Peru. The competitors raced 288 km in between Nazca to Arequipa. Sand dunes with extreme up and down slopes from altitudes of 2,000 m to nearly 0 m, which is the character of South America had the highest level of difficulty in the past 4 days. It was a very exciting day where many competitors fell back by being stuck or having other difficulties.
From the goal of the stage 3 SS to Arequipa which is the bivouac location for today, is a long driving distance of 429 km. The temperature in Arequipa located on the mountain slopes at an altitude of about 2,000 m drops quickly in the evening, and while a light rain was falling, each of the teams reached the goal one after another and began preparations for tomorrow's race.
On the 9th, the teams drive towards Arica, Chile across the border after the last race in Peru at near Arequipa.
