Severe Race Rushes into the Second Half

Report

On January 14, the 2013 Dakar Rally entered the second half of the competition, and the competitors raced from San Miguel de Tucumán to Córdoba, Argentina.
The overall distance of 593 km of the special stage of the day, started from a point 176 km south of Tucumán. The race was divided into two parts, a first half and second half, and 127 km of paved road from the 226 km point to 353 km point in the middle, was set as the neutral zone. The route consisted of a hard gravel road surface, and the competitors drove through farms and villages in the hilly country.
The staffs waited for their team vehicles to reach the bivouac established in a park by the San Roque Lake in Villa Carlos Paz in the suburbs of Córdoba City, and the mechanics were completely absorbed in their preparations for tomorrow's race.
The plan for tomorrow's stage 10 on January 15, takes the competitors on a 632 km special stage from Córdoba to La Rioja. The stage begins with a winding course, followed by a technical special stage, where the competitors can expect alternating high speed sections, scheduled to finish in La Rioja after moving over an additional distance of 279 km.
